"This is an antique recipe I actually have for a white cake, and it tastes excellent."

Ingredients :

  • 2 three/4 cups sifted cake flour
  • four teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 half of cups white sugar
  • three/four cup butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions :

  • Measure sifted cake flour, baking powder, and salt; sift together 3 times.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Add 1/2 cup sugar progressively, and retain beating handiest until meringue will preserve up in tender peaks.
  • Beat butter until easy. Gradually upload final 1 cup sugar, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add sifted substances alternately with milk a small quantity at a time, beating after every addition until clean. Mix in flavorings. Add meringue, and blend very well into batter. Spread batter in a fifteen x 10 x 1 inch pan which has been covered on the bottom with parchment paper.
  • Bake at 350 stages F (a hundred seventy five degrees C) for 30 to 35 mins. Cool cake in pan 10 mins, then do away with from pan and transfer to a cord rack to complete cooling. This cake can also be baked in two nine inch spherical pans for 30 to 35 minutes, or in three eight inch round pans for 25 to half-hour.
